An Oral Will Isn't Really a Will at All

In the Lowcountry, there are thousands of acres of land that have been passed down generationally by means of an oral will. One non-profit is tackling this challenge and helping rightful heirs clear the title to the land they live and pay taxes on.

SCBIZ Magazine

SCBIZ is a quarterly magazine serving senior level decision-makers across the entire state of South Carolina. The magazine focuses on economic development, taking a thoughtful approach to complex topics. In this magazine, I wrote a feature story about Bill McCall, former COO of Santee Cooper, an energy company in South Carolina. He is largely credited with the expansion of the state's power grid. 

Earth+Sky Magazine

    Earth+Sky is an award-winning production of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Magazine Writing and Editing course.  The magazine earned first place in the 2011 AEJMC Student Magazine Competition, with judges praising the cover, realistic business plan, and thorough editorial plan. I secured the cover with Chaske Spencer, and wrote four of the pieces in the magazine. Furthermore, I oversaw much of the editorial production of the magazine and worked closely with our art director.  In the spring of 2011 I wrote a business plan to accompany the magazine.
